PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welding device and a welding method which allow for stabilization of weld quality of the metal wire of a thermocouple wire.SOLUTION: A welding device 100 for welding the metal wires 12, 22, exposed by a prescribed length by removing the insulation coatings 11, 21 at the tip of two thermocouple wires 10, 20, each other includes a body 30, a welding portion 40 for welding the metal wires 12, 22 each other, and a holding member 50 for holding the wires 10, 20 so as to position the metal wires 12, 22 at the welding position of the welding portion 40. The holding member 50 has two large diameter holes 53 into which the wires 10, 20 are inserted, respectively, and small diameter holes 54 communicating with the large diameter holes 53, respectively, and formed so that entry of the insulation coatings 11, 21 is restricted and only the metal wires 12, 22 pass therethrough. The tips of the metal wires 12, 22 passed through the small diameter holes 54 are positioned at the weld position in weldable state. |
