PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal aligning agent that can reproduce a relatively low pretilt angle stably by photo-aligning method and is excellent in coating property (printability) even when a general-purpose solvent is used.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal aligning agent contains at least one kind of polymer selected from the group consisting of polyorganosiloxane, polyamide, poly(thio)ester and (meth)acrylic acid copolymer, the polymer containing a divalent group represented by the following formula (1). In the formula (1), Rto Reach independently represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, C1-C12 alkyl group, or C2-C12 alkenyl group, Yand Yeach independently represent divalent organic group, and each "*" represents a bond. |
