The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for driving a motor. According to the present invention, provided is the apparatus for driving the motor, which includes a filter control unit which generates a control signal by detecting a frequency of a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal, a first filter which filters a back electro motive force (BEMF) signal according to the control signal, a second filter which filters a reference signal according to the control signal, and a comparing unit which generates a motor rotor detection signal by comparing the output of the first filter with the output of the second filter. |
