A pulse detonation device comprising: a) a mixing chamber in fluid communication with an oxidant inlet, the mixing chamber further in 5 communication with a fuel line, b) a diffuser configured to receive a fuel/oxidant mixture from the mixing chamber, c) a detonation region downstream of the diffuser, where the detonation region is configured with an ignition location that provides sufficient activation energy to ignite the fuel/oxidant mixture, d) whereby the expanding, combusted gas of the fuel/oxidant mixture travels down the 10 detonation region to an exit location.
