PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To complete discrimination of a cylinder without being delayed in arrival to a compression top dead point, of each cylinder in starting an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: A crank angle sensor belonging to a crank shaft, is constituted to cut off a crank angle signal with respect to a specific rotation phase angle of the crank shaft without outputting the same, while outputting the crank angle signal in every rotation of a unit angle of the crank shaft, and a cam angle sensor belonging to a cam shaft driven and rotated by the crank shaft to open and close an intake valve or an exhaust valve, is constituted to output a fundamental cam angle signal corresponding to a prescribed stroke of each cylinder, and further output an additional cam angle signal at a specific rotation phase angle of the cam shaft. The stroke of each cylinder is discriminated on the basis of that one of the additional cam angle signal and the fundamental cam angle signal is output without involving the cutting-off of the crank angle signal. |
