<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that conventional shipping programs are typically threshold-based, so a customer may be required to order a certain number of items or a certain cost of items to obtain benefit of reduced-rate shipping or free shipping.SOLUTION: This invention may provide mechanisms that allow customers of an e-commerce Web site to pay a certain fee to obtain a subscription in a shipping program that provides subscribed customers with free and/or reduced-rate shipping for at least some items ordered via the e-commerce Web site during a period covered by the subscription.</p> |
