The present invention provides an ARP buffer, comprising a network interface module, configured to send an IP data packet to a searching module for performing IP address searching, and after the IP address searching fails, send an obtained MAC address to the searching module; the searching module, configured to search an IP address from an ARP buffer module according to the IP data packet sent by the network interface module, and after the IP address searching fails, store the MAC address sent by the network interface module into the ARP buffer module; and the ARP buffer module, configured to provide an IP address for the searching module for performing IP address searching, and after the IP address searching fails, store the IP address into the ARP buffer module. Also disclosed is an ARP buffering method. By means of the present invention, when an ARP buffer is filled but no ARP entry reaches an aging time, communication can be performed with another host in a non-ARP cache table. |
