The method involves using a phase change material (9), and providing a rigid, thermally isolated storage container (2) with an opening (3), where the volume changes of the phase change material is determined with an elastic membrane (4) for determining the loading condition of the storage. The volume changes are caused during the loading or unloading of the storage. The membrane seals the opening in covered and pressure-tight manner. A space is completely filled with the phase change material. An independent claim is included for a latent storage with an elastomer layer which consists of silicone filled with carbon black.
