APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PROCESSING EYEGLASS LENS BY MILLING CUTTER

Disclosed are a device and a method for processing an eyeglass lens, capable of cutting and removing an unnecessary portion of the edge of a circular lens with a milting cutter which is spirally operated. The method for processing the eyeglass lens includes a step of making the milling cutter to come in contact with the surface of the lens and a step of separating and removing the unnecessary portion of the edge of the lens along the shape of the eyeglass lens by forming a groove of a predetermined depth on the lend and cutting the lens while moving the milling cutter along one spiral processing trajectory which spirally encloses the eyeglass lens of the central portion of the lens. The width of the groove formed in each rotation step forming the spiral processing trajectory is partially overlapped with the width of the groove formed in a prior rotation step, and the depth of the groove formed in each rotation step is increased per each rotation step. Therefore, the lens is finally cut along the shape of the eyeglass lens.
