Disclosed are a method for supporting device-to-device (D2D) communications in a cellular network and an apparatus for the same. The method for supporting a D2D communications method in a cellular network comprises the following steps of: receiving, by a terminal device from a base station, information on a D2D zone which has been set up for the D2D communications; and detecting a search signal transmitted by at least one D2D terminal device using the information on the D2D zone, wherein the D2D zone can include a search section to transmit the search signal by at least one D2D terminal device and a connection section to transmit a signal to request D2D transmission.
