PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyalkylene glycol with high production efficiency, which glycol can be used as a raw material for a polyurethane resin to be used in adhesives, paints, sealing materials, elastomers, floor materials or the like; as a raw material for rigid, soft, or semirigid polyurethane foam; and in other wide fields such as surfactants, sanitary products, lubricants, and the like.SOLUTION: The method for producing a polyalkylene glycol comprises, at the least, a step (A) of mixing 1 mole of specific iminophosphazenium salt with 0.2-10,000 moles of an active hydrogen compound and dehydrating an obtained mixture under reduced pressure to prepare active species; and a step (B) of performing a ring-opening polymerization reaction of alkylene oxide by using 20-20,000 moles of alkylene oxide relative to 1 mole of the active species obtained at the step (A) under such a reaction condition that the amount of water becomes 4.0 moles or less relative to 1 mole of an iminophosphazenium ion constituting the active species. |
