Interference in a wireless network is processed, the interference comprising a harmonic product I3 of at least a first signal C1. On the basis of at least the first signal, at least one interference signal comprising a synthesized harmonic product is generated 46, and the at least one interference signal is correlated 54 with a waveform received at a device in the wireless system to produce data representing a correlation. The interference is processed in dependence on the data representative of the correlation, such as the magnitude of the correlation. In one embodiment the synthesized harmonic products generated 46 are delayed by a plurality of delays 52 to generate a plurality of delayed interference signals comprising synthesized interference products and the delay value with the highest correlation magnitude is used by delay block 56 to generate an interference signal comprising synthesized harmonic products from the first signal. The generated interference signal is them combined with the received signal e.g. in anti-phase (e.g. subtraction) so that received interference is cancelled or reduced. In an alternative embodiment a single predetermined delay value 56 is used when the relative delay between the synthesized harmonic product and the received interference is known. The combined signal 62 with reduced interference is then output C3. The interference processing is performed at baseband. |
