Data is received that has been transmitted via a combination of radio frequency signals using non-contiguous carrier aggregation. Desired signals are transmitted over two non-adjacent groups of carriers (532, 534, Fig. 9). The first of the two groups (532, Fig. 9) occupies a wider frequency region than the second group (534, Fig. 9). For example, the first group may include multiple bands of carrier frequencies (524, 502, Fig. 9) and the second group only a single band of carrier frequencies (504, Fig. 9) and the first and second groups may be separated by an unwanted frequency band (518, Fig. 9). Frequency signals are downconverted using quadrature mixing (906a, 906b, 906c, 906d) to give two identical sets of inphasc (I) and quadrature (Q) components. The first set of I and Q components is filtered using a first bandpass filter bandwidth (902a, 902b) and the second set is filtered using a second bandpass filter bandwidth (904a, 904b), different from the first bandpass filter bandwidth. A reconfigurable receiver is also disclosed, which may switch between a first mode, as described above, and a second mode. The second mode may use only one set of I and Q components, and these are lowpass filtered (900a, 900b) rather than bandpass filtered. |
