PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an electrophotographic photoreceptor suppressing another failure while achieving a sampling purpose in a process of sampling, with a brush, photosensitive layer coating liquid adhering to an end of a conductive support. SOLUTION: The method is provided for manufacturing the electrophotographic photoreceptor by applying the photosensitive layer coating liquid to the conductive support and drying it. The method includes the process of sampling, with the brush, the photosensitive layer coating liquid adhering to an end of a conductive support outer peripheral surface after applying the photosensitive layer coating liquid. The brush includes a cylindrical ring with a length T(mm), and a brush bristle group consisting of a plurality of brush bristles that are erected from the inner peripheral surface of the ring and have a length L(mm) and a diameter d(mm). When it is assumed that the thickness of the axial direction of the ring of the brush bristle group is t(mm), sectional secondary moment of the brush bristles is I(mm<SP>4</SP>), modulus of longitudinal elasticity of the brush bristles is E(kg/mm<SP>2</SP>), the contact width of the brush bristles with the outer peripheral surface of the conductive support is y(mm), and the degree of density of the brush bristle group isσ, a predetermined relationship is established.
