PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motor that increases a thrust force while achieving a reduction in size. SOLUTION: The linear motor 1 has an inner yoke 11 that is inserted into a coil row 17 and fixed to a pair of outer yokes 7 facing each other and each row 15 of inner side magnets that is provided in the inner yoke 11. Each row 15 of inner side magnets has a plurality of inner side magnets 27. Each row of inner side magnets is provided on each face facing a pair of second sides 29b of a coil 29, wherein magnetization takes place in a direction intersecting with the pair of second sides 29b. The inner side magnets are arranged in a driving direction at the same intervals as those of a plurality of outer magnets 21 facing each other so that the directions of the magnetic poles are alternately reversed. The rows of inner side magnets are configured such that their magnetic poles are directed to the coil row 17 while having types different from those of magnetic poles directed to the coil row 17 of a pair of rows 9 of outer magnets facing each other.
