Vacuum distillation of a liquid, comprises: evaporating at least one fraction of the liquid at a reducing pressure; determining a vapor temperature correlating with a boiling temperature by means of a temperature sensor (27) and determining a pressure present at the time of the determination of the vapor temperature and correlating with a boiling pressure with a pressure sensor (29); and automatically determining a minimal pressure, which is not undercut in the distillation, by using the determined vapor temperature and the determined pressure. An independent claim is also included for a distillation apparatus for the vacuum distillation of a liquid, comprising: a distillation vessel for the evaporation of at least one fraction of the liquid at a reducing pressure; at least one temperature sensor for determining a vapor temperature correlating to a boiling temperature; and a pressure sensor for determining a pressure present at the time of the determination of the vapor temperature and correlating with a boiling pressure, where the distillation apparatus is adapted to automatically determine a minimal pressure, which may not be undercut in the distillation, using the determined vapor temperature and the determined pressure. |
