Upon determining that user equipment (UE) 204A, 204B, 204C is out of network coverage, UE 204A, 204B, 204C is switched to an out of network coverage operating mode. This may comprise UE 204A, 204B, 204C sending discovery messages to find other device-to-device (D2D) devices by monitoring resources allocated to proximity services. The UE 204A, 204B, 204C monitors properties of out of network coverage operation and, if one or more predetermined conditions related to the properties are fulfiIled, transmits a message using resources reserved to out of network coverage operation. The message comprises an indication of the fulfilled conditions, such as an indication that current resources reserved to out of network coverage operation are having load higher than a pre-configured threshold, UE is having problems in setup of direct communications with other discovered devices or UE is not reaching a required quality in direct communications with other discovered devices. The information in the message may be for generating a minimisation of drive test (MDT) report. |
