900,371. Overhead staiths for unloading. ALLARD, P. J. M. T. Sept. 7, 1960 [Sept. 23, 1959], No. 30801/60. Class 78 (4). A grab 22, for example for unloading ships, is suspended from a swinging arm 17 carried by a linkage 4, 5, 10 from a carriage 1 travelling along rails 2 which may be on a quay Q. In the form shown, the arm 17 can be moved by a ram 18 to position the grab over a hopper 23 suspended from the boom 10 and delivering material to a conveyer 26. Winches 15 for operating the grab cables are mounted on the jib, and the arm 17 may be replaced by two side-by-side arms, one for each controlling cable for the grab. The linkage 4, 5, 10 is swung by a ram 11. The conveyer 26 may deliver to shoots which load trucks travelling between the legs of the carriage 1. |
