854,546. Making wheel rims. HOLMES, R. L. June 30, 1959 [July 2, 1958], No. 21125/58. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group XXXIV] A wheel rim for spoked wheels, which is formed to generally I-section to provide an imperforate outer peripheral tyre-seating flange H connected by a central radial web to an inner peripheral spoke-anchoring flange E, is made by welding together in back-to-back relation two generally C-shaped sections by one or more circumferential welds at mating circumferential indentations K in the back-to-back webs. Alternatively, the two sections may be hot-rolled together with subsequent cold-rolling treatment. In further constructions the two sections may be formed individually or as an integral assembly, from extruded strip of the appropriate section, or the rim assembly may be cast in annular form and subsequently rolled to the desired diameter and sectional thickness.
