A rock drilling apparatus comprises a feed bar for a rock drill and a mounting on a substructure comprising two arms swingable on a transverse axis, the arms supporting the feed bar at opposite sides of the substructure and being movable to move the feed bar parallel to itself. As shown, a mobile base 1 carries a substructure comprising a base plate 3 carrying frames 9 swinging in bearings 10 and movable by means of pressure fluid cylinders 11 pivoted to brackets 15 and pistons and piston rods 13 pivoted to the frames 9. Tubular shafts 18 are mounted on the ends of the frames 9 and carry brackets 19 for arms 20, 21 movable by jacks 22, the shafts 18 being angularly movable by jacks 80. The arms 20, 21 form a mounting for a feed bar 30 carrying a rock drill. The base plate may be provided with jacks 4 for supporting it in position before drilling and the mobile base may carry the necessary pumps for pressure fluid and control gear.
