<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which the disease onset risk of canine mitral insufficiency and/or tricuspid insufficiency is evaluated and the onset is prevented beforehand. <P>SOLUTION: The method for evaluating the disease onset risk of a dog includes a step for measuring the body fat percentage of the dog and dividing the dog into a case having ≥35% of the body fat percentage and a case having <35% thereof, and a step for dividing the age of the dog into <5 year old or ≥5 year old, and evaluates the dog being ≥5 year old and having ≥35% of the body fat percentage so as to have high disease onset risk of the canine mitral insufficiency and/or the tricuspid insufficiency. A preventing treatment of applying diet control for reducing the body fat percentage to <35% is applied to the dog evaluated so that the risk is high.
