The operating panel assembly (20) has an operating panel (21) fitted to the outside of the domestic appliance (10) and provided with display and operating elements (22) coupled to a circuit board (60) provided with electronic control and power components on the inside of the operating panel. The display and operating elements are fitted to the operating panel in dependence on the configuration of the circuit board layout and connected to the circuit board via at least one flexible lead. An independent claim for a domestic appliance provided with an operating panel assembly is also included.
