1. A liquid crystal display device constituted of a plurality of pixels, comprising:
a first substrate including:
gate lines, source lines,a pixel electrode for the pixel having a first main electrode in a stripe shape extending along a first cross line direction which crosses at an acute angle in a counterclockwise direction with respect to an initial alignment direction of liquid crystal molecules, and a second main electrode in a stripe shape extending along a second cross line direction which crosses at an acute angle in a clockwise direction with respect to the initial alignment direction of the liquid crystal molecules, anda first alignment film covering the pixel electrode; a second substrate including:
a counter electrode having a third main electrode in the stripe shape arranged above a pair of regions sandwiching the first main electrode extending along a first cross line direction and a fourth main electrode in the stripe shape arranged above a pair of regions sandwiching the second main electrode extending along the second cross line direction, anda second alignment film; and a liquid crystal layer held between the first substrate and the second substrate; wherein each of the pixel includes a first unit configuration and a second unit configuration, and the first and second unit configurations are respectively formed by combining the first main electrode and the third main electrode extending along the first cross line direction, and combining the second main electrode and the fourth main electrode extending along the second cross line direction, wherein a distance between the first main electrode and the third main electrode in the first unit configuration is different from a distance between the first main electrode and the third main electrode in the second unit configuration, and a distance between the second main electrode and the fourth main electrode in the first unit configuration is different from a distance between the second main electrode and the fourth main electrode in the second unit configuration.
