A method for producing a log likelihood ratio in an MIMO system and an apparatus therefor are provided to generate the log likelihood ratio by selecting a transmission symbol vector based on the calculated maximum axial distance, and calculating the Euclidean distance for only the selected transmission symbol vector. A received signal vector is demodulated through a detection algorithm to obtain candidate transmission symbol vectors which can be transmitted(301). The axial distance between the received signal vector and the obtained candidate transmission symbol vectors is calculated(303). A transmission symbol vector having the minimum distance is selected through the comparison between the calculated axial distances. An LLR is calculated by using the Euclidean distance for the selected transmission symbol vector(309). The detection algorithm is at least one of the ML, MML, SMML, MMSE-OSIC2 and QRM-MLD. |
