摘要 A device for dispensing fluid to a patient enabling either or both of a continuous flow, as well as successive, large-volume boluses. A first reservoir provides a source of fluid under pressure. A bolus flow path provides for the delivery of a bolus dose of fluid and an optional continuous flow path provides a continuous flow rate of fluid. Both flow paths are in fluid communication with the source of fluid. A bolus delivery system in fluid communication with the bolus flow path receives fluid from the first reservoir, expands to pressurize fluid, stores the pressurized fluid, and dispenses the pressurized fluid while avoiding bolus refill until enabled to expand in a subsequent delivery cycle. An actuator releases fluid from the bolus delivery system such that when actuated by the patient, fluid is permitted to flow out of the bolus reservoir to the patient without further action by the patient.

A device for dispensing fluid to a patient comprising: a first reservoir configured to provide a source of fluid under pressure; a bolus flow path for the delivery of a bolus dose of fluid; a large volume bolus delivery system in fluid communication with the bolus flow path and configured to receive fluid from the first reservoir, the bolus delivery system comprising: a reciprocating pump, a plunger engageable with the pump, and a patient operable actuator button engageable with the plunger such that the pump is configured to elastically expand to pressurize fluid, store the pressurized fluid and dispense the pressurized fluid while avoiding bolus refill during bolus delivery or after bolus delivery but before it is enabled to elastically expand in a subsequent delivery cycle utilizing a clamp system comprising: a clamp system rotatably mounted to be operatively responsive to movement of the patient operable actuator between extended and depressed positions thereof for respectively closing and opening an outlet of the pump and for respectively opening and closing an inlet of the pump; a component that releasably latches the patient operable actuator button in the depressed position thereof to release fluid from the bolus delivery system, the releasably latched actuator button being configured such that it does not require effort to force the fluid out of the bolus reservoir and that when actuated by the patient, fluid is permitted to flow out of the bolus reservoir to the patient without further action by the patient; and a component operatively responsive to movement of the plunger to a selected position thereof for releasing the patient operable actuator button from the depressed position.
