The present invention relates to: an iodine (I2) or bromine (Br2) adsorbent that contains zeolite having an Si/Al value of 15 or more; an I2 or Br2 carrier that includes the I2 or Br2 adsorbent; a column that is filled with the I2 or Br2 adsorbent; a molded product that is molded by means of the I2 or Br2 adsorbent or adhered on the I2or Br2 adsorbent; a method for I2 or Br2 adsorption or removal using the I2 or Br2 adsorbent; an I2- or Br2-containing zeolite composite that has porous zeolite and I2 or Br2 that is encapsulated in the pores of the zeolite; a semiconductor material that includes the I2- or Br2-containing zeolite composite; and a method for producing an I2- or Br2-containing byproduct using the I2- or Br2-containing zeolite composite.
