1. A method of providing news, comprising:
receiving, by a processor, a request for news articles from a user; identifying, by the processor, a geographic location of the requesting user; accessing, by the processor, user logs comprising other users' prior selections of news articles; identifying, by the processor, from the user logs, sources of news items selected by other users with respective geographic locations that are determined to match the requesting user's geographic location; eliminating, by the processor, news sources that are popular across a plurality of user groups; selecting, by the processor subsequent to the elimination, a subset of the news sources as preferred news sources for obtaining relevant news items; obtaining, by the processor, the relevant news items from the selected news sources; and transmitting, by the processor, the relevant news items for presentation to the requesting user.
