1. A computer implemented display management system for displaying information relevant to a user selection, the system comprising:
a processor and memory; means for displaying a portion of a list of elements in a predefined order, the predefined order based on a classification assigned to each element; means at least partially implemented in software for displaying a retrieval control section having multiple segments, each of the segments corresponding to at least one of the classifications assigned to the elements in the list of elements, wherein no classification corresponds to more than one segment; and means for enabling user selection of one or more distinguished segments from the multiple segments, wherein the user selection causes at least two of the elements associated with the classification corresponding to the distinguished segments to be displayed in the predefined order by the means for displaying the portion of the list of elements.
