The present invention provides a home automation system and method capable of controlling a control target installed within a house from a remote external place. The system according to the present invention comprises: an access point (AP) installed within the house and connected to an external communication network; a used mobile phone for making a short-range wireless communication with the AP; a wireless communication module for control installed at the used mobile phone for transmitting a control signal to the control target; and a mobile terminal for transmitting a control command to the used mobile phone on a communication network. The present invention may simply construct the home automation system for the remote control and the remote monitoring by using the used mobile phone left alone within the house, thereby drastically saving resources by recycling the used mobile phone and largely reducing a cost burden to a consumer according to the construction of the home automation system. |
