1. A method of drug delivery, comprising administering a pharmaceutical composition comprising a drug and a polylactide to a subject, wherein the polylactide has the structure: wherein R1, R2, R3, and R4 are each independently chosen from the group consisting of unsubstituted C1-20 alkyl, H, C2-20 alkenyl, and —(CH2)y—(C6H5); wherein y=1-20; wherein n is 2 to 100; wherein X is hydrogen or —C(O)—CH═CH2; wherein at least one of R1, R2, R3, and R4 is C4-20 unsubstituted alkyl, C2-20 alkenyl, or —(CH2)y—(C6H5); wherein y=1-20; wherein Y is —OH, C1-12 alkoxy, benzyloxy, or —O—(CH2—CH2—O)p—CH3; wherein p is 1 to 700; and wherein if Y is —OH, C1-12 alkoxy, or benzyloxy, then the polylactide has a Tg value of less than 15° C.
