The fermentation residue obtained by cultivating a gibberellic acid-producing organism, such as Gibberella fujikoroi (Fusarium moniliforme), in a liquid nutrient medium and removing the resulting gibberellic acid therefrom, e.g. by filtration, may be employed in animal feeds. According to an example, the dried mycelium, which 1 contained 11,5% protein (based on Kjeldahl nitrogen) and 34,9% fat, was added to feeds in the proportions of at least 0,25% for chickens and 0,5% for other animals, higher proportions yielding optimum growth response. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 783,611. |
