One aspect of the present invention relates to a rechargeable battery which prevents the melting of a safety member in the penetration of conductor. A rechargeable battery according to one embodiment of the present invention includes an electrode assembly which includes a first electrode and a second electrode at both sides of a separator, a case in which the electrode assembly is formed, a cap plate which is combined with the opening part of the case, a first electrode terminal and a second electrode terminal which are installed in the terminal hole of the cap plate and are connected to the first electrode and the second electrode, respectively, and a safety member which is arranged between the case and the electrode assembly. The cap plate is electrically connected to one of the first electrode and the second electrode. The safety member is electrically connected to the other of the first electrode and the second electrode. The safety member includes a plate part, and a protrusion part which protrudes from at least one surface of the plate part. |
