A gas sensor element for detecting the concentration of a specific gas in a gas to be measured, wherein an electrode for a gas sensor provided to a solid electrolytic material having oxygen ion conductivity contains a noble metal and a solid electrolyte. When viewed in cross section, the electrode has a noble metal region (121) composed of a noble metal, a solid electrolyte region (122) composed of a solid electrolyte, and mixed region (123) obtained by mixing the noble metal and the solid electrolyte. The mixed region (123) is formed along a boundary part (120) between the noble metal region (121) and the solid electrolyte region (122).
