Disclosed are a laser welding method and an apparatus therefor, wherein: drive pulse signals are outputted from a control apparatus (60) to a moving apparatus (17), which moves a workpiece (W) or a CW laser output unit (16) or the output direction of the CW laser output unit (16), so as to have the moving apparatus perform predetermined operations; a speed at which the moving apparatus (17) or a CW laser beam (L) is moving is calculated on the basis of the drive pulse signals; a laser output to be outputted to the workpiece (W) is calculated corresponding to the calculated speed; the calculation results are outputted to a CW laser generating apparatus (12) from the control apparatus (60); and the workpiece (W) is welded using the CW laser output unit (16).
