A carriage device for an overhead hoist system is disclosed. An overhead hoist system according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a rail system having multiple driving rails, branch and joining rails for connecting the multiple driving rails, and straight and curved branch guides separately installed in branch areas where the driving rails and the branch and joining rails are met to guide straight driving and branch driving; a carrier unit installed to be driven on the driving rails of the rail system to transfer objects from a departure to a destination; and a branch roller unit having multiple branch and straight rollers installed in the carrier unit to be lifted, and guided while one among the multiple branch and straight rollers is supported by and in contact with one among the straight and curved branch guides to selectively perform the straight driving and the branch driving at the moment when the carrier unit enters into the branch area.
