The present invention relates to a method of producing modified red mud which includes the steps of: (a) preparing a slurry red mud by mixing red mud and water; (b) adding hydrochloric acid to the slurry red mud; (c) obtaining a sediment by adding an ammonia solution to the slurry red mud obtained in step (b) followed by a filtration thereof; and (d) obtaining the final product by adding metallic oxide to the sediment from step (c).
