<PICT:0862326/III/1> Apparatus for coating the internal surface of a pipe comprises a towing spindle connected at its leading end to a haulage rod, one or more circular brushes being secured to its trailing end, at least two axially spaced squeegee elements being loosely mounted on the towing spindle between its leading end and the brush elements, so that, as the apparatus is towed through the pipe, the rod may be rotated to cause rotation of the brushes relative to the squeegee elements and to the pipe. As shown, an extension 1 is secured to the exposed end of a length of pipe, the extension being provided with a funnel 2, an extension arm 4 which may be engaged with the end of a previously treated length of pipe, and a tray or sump portion 8. The paint applying unit comprises a rod 10 adapted for connection to the drawbar of a towing unit, and having circular brushes 15, clamped between plates 16 and 161, attached to its trailing end, so that they will rotate p with the rod 10. A paint reservoir is formed between two squeegee elements 18 and 19, each comprising flexible or resilient pads 191 clamped between plates 20, fastened to collars 21. The collars 21 are rotatably supported on the rod 10. In use, the apparatus is placed on the previously-cleaned pipe in the position shown, paint is introduced into the reservoir through the funnel 2, an extension being used if required, and the paint-applying unit is traversed through the pipe the brushes 15 being rotated.
