This traffic information processing system comprises a detection device and a server device. The detection device includes: a position detection unit that detects the position of the present device and acquires the time of the detection; a segment detection unit that detects, from a plurality of segments which are sections into which a road is divided, the segment corresponding to the position detected by the position detection unit; a segment change determination unit that determines whether the segment in which the present device exists has changed or not on the basis of segments successively detected by the segment detection unit; and a transmission unit that, if the segment change determination unit determines that the segment in which the present device exists has changed, transmits to the server device information indicating the segment in which the present device exists and information indicating the time from which the present device started to exist in said segment. The server device includes a reception unit that receives, from the detection device, said information indicating said segment and said information indicating said time.
