The present invention relates to a ceramic backing material for welding and, more specifically, to a backing material sandwiched between welding grooves of base materials, including: a ceramic body inserted to the welding groove; a first embossment portion for cutting formed on the ceramic body in response to the depth of the welding groove to be capable of cutting the ceramic body; and a second embossment portion for cutting formed on the ceramic body in response to the width of the welding groove to be capable of cutting the ceramic body. According to the same, even when the depth of the welding groove is different from the sizes displayed in the blueprint, the ceramic body can be easily cut in according with the depth of the welding groove.
