602993 Disclosed is an antisapstain composition comprising haloalkynyl compound in an amount of up to about 10% w/w, an azole in an amount of up to about 10% w/w and an unsaturated carboxylic or alkali metal salt thereof in an amount of up to about 20% w/w, wherein the unsaturated carboxylic acid is selected from the group consisting of rosin, sorbic acid, sodium sorbate, potassium sorbate and an aromatic acid. A specific example of a haloalkynyl compound is 3-iodo-2-propynyl butyl carbamate (IPBC). Specific examples of the azole include substituted imidazoles and 1,2,4-triazoles. The antisapstain compositions are useful for treating wood and other cellulosic materials and protecting substrates against moulds, staining and other defacing organisms.
