PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a new separator material in order to solve some problems to be caused by a conventional separator.SOLUTION: A multifunctional battery separator includes two or more active separator layers deposited from different polymer solution to form a multilayered unitary structure comprising a free-standing film, a multilayer film provided on one side of a porous substrate, or a separation film or multilayer film provided on the opposite side of the porous substrate. In a preferable embodiment, the active separator layers are simultaneously laminated under infiltration by using a cascade coating method, and physical, electrical, morphological change relevant to a polymer drying process is prevented or minimized. For the multifunctional separator, manufacturing costs are not expensive, ion conductivity is improved, ion battery characteristics are improved, and a gap between the respective layers in a separator stack which leads to a battery failure is excluded. |
