<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a shape characteristic of a determined vehicle.SOLUTION: The vehicle detection device has: a sensor part that is arranged in an upper part of a road, transmits/receives a radio wave for each prescribed time and thereby detects the road and a determined vehicle as a detection signal; and a vehicle shape characteristic determination part that acquires a first distance between a first position on a surface of the road directly below the sensor part and a second position where the radio wave getting close to and passing through a top part of the determined vehicle and a rear end of an advance direction of the determined vehicle is reflected upon the road and a second distance from the first position to a front end of an advance direction of the determined vehicle, calculates a detection length as to a length of the determined vehicle and a detection height as to a height of the determined vehicle by performing a calculation, using the first distance and the second distance which are acquired for each of two different predetermined times, and determines the shape characteristic of the determined vehicle on the basis of the detection length and the detection height.</p> |
