<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous hollow fiber membrane for treatment of a protein-containing liquid which can efficiently separate and remove substances to be removed such as small-diameter viruses contained in a solution, and at the same time, allows efficient permeation of useful substances to be recovered such as high concentration proteins.SOLUTION: A porous hollow fiber membrane comprises an asymmetrical structure having a dense layer only in an outer layer and contains a hydrophobic polymer and a first hydrophilic polymer. The surface and porous parts of the hollow fiber membrane are covered with a second hydrophilic polymer. The hydrophobic polymer is a polysulfone polymer, the first hydrophilic polymer is a copolymer of vinylpyrrolidone and vinyl acetate, and the second hydrophilic polymer is a polysaccharide or a polysaccharide derivative. The porous hollow membrane is obtained by a step of forming a porous hollow fiber membrane using a stock solution obtained by co-dissolving the hydrophobic polymer and the first hydrophilic polymer in the same solvent and then covering the surface and porous parts of the porous hollow fiber membrane with the second hydrophilic polymer.</p> |
