PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more excellent lithium ion secondary battery than ever before by examining preparation of a raw material before baking which is a precursor of a positive electrode material.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a precursor of a positive electrode material for a lithium ion secondary battery includes a coprecipitation step of acquiring a coprecipitate containing hydroxide by adding an alkaline solution to a solution containing a metal ion. The coprecipitation step is performed under an inert gas atmosphere.
