PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of an adhesive applied to a part corresponding to a reversal portion upon SZ-twisting of core wires.SOLUTION: An apparatus for manufacturing a SZ-twisted wire includes: an assembling part 12 for assembling a plurality of core wires W1 delivered from delivery devices 11; an adhesive application device 13 which includes an adhesive melting part 13a for melting an adhesive and an adhesive discharge part 13b for discharging the melted adhesive, and which applies the adhesive, by the discharge from the adhesive discharge part 13b, to a space part surrounded by the core wires W1 forming a part corresponding to a reversal portion upon SZ-twisting and assembled at the assembling part 12; a controller 18 for performing control relating to the discharge of the adhesive in the adhesive application device 13; and a SZ-twisting part 14 for twisting, in SZ-twisting arrangement, the core wires W1 to which the adhesive has been applied, thereby providing a SZ-twisted wire W2.
