PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-soluble yellow pigment (compound) that has high solubility in water, and is superior in a variety of fastness such as water resistance, humidity resistance, ozone gas resistance, wear resistance and light resistance, particularly superior in ozone gas resistance, and provide a yellow ink composition containing the same and used for a variety of recording, particularly inkjet recording.SOLUTION: This invention provides a water-soluble azo compound represented by the formula (1) or salt thereof. In the formula (1), Q represents a halogen atom, x represents an integer of 2 to 4, n represents an integer of 1 to 8, and A represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a carboxy group, a carbamoyl group, a sulfo group, a sulfamoyl group, a hydroxy group, an amino group, a cyano group, a phospho group, a nitro group, or an acyl group. |
