863,769. Laminates; coated films. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO., E. I. March 31, 1959 [April 14, 1958], No. 10752/59. Class 140. [Also in Group IV (a)] Laminates e.g. films and shaped articles, are obtained by contacting a polar, solid substrate with a composition comprising a polymer of a mono-olefinic hydrocarbon with a melt index between 0.1 and 10, e.g. polyethylene and polypropylene and between 0.25 and 10.1 by weight of a polyallyl ester of cyanuric acid or a polyallyl melamine. A compound that decomposes to yield free radicals at from 170‹ to 270‹ C. e.g. dicumyl peroxide may also be present. The substrate, e.g. aluminium foil or polyethylene terephthalate, may be contacted with the molten composition at between 170‹ C. and 300‹ C. The polyallyl derivatives may be masticated with the polyolefine, coated on to granules thereof, or coated on the substrate before lamination.
|
