The present invention relates to an electrolyte for a magnesium secondary battery with improved ion conductivity and stability, and a method for preparing the same. The electrolyte for a magnesium secondary battery according to the present invention has more excellent ion conductivity than electrolytes of a prior art, improves the degree of dissociation of magnesium halide electrolyte salt of the prior art, and shows stable electrochemical properties. In addition, according to the results of capacity, output characteristics, and cycle life examinations, a magnesium secondary battery including the electrolyte according to the present invention has much more excellent discharge capacity per unit weight after 100 times of measurement than electrolyte of the prior art, and thus the present invention can be effectively used as an electrolyte solution for a magnesium secondary battery.
