PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorbing member which can destroys a high-speed flying object, can reliably block that small pieces produced by crushing and shock stress waves pass-through to the back surface side, has a light weight, can be simply manufactured and is considerably useful as constitutional material of a protection fixture.SOLUTION: A shock absorbing member 50 includes a ceramic joint body 15 having: a plurality of first sheet-like members 5 which is made of ceramic containing boron carbide of 60 mass% or more and has a thickness of 0.1 to 50 mm; and a joint layer which is arranged between first sheet-like members 5 adjacent to each other and joins joint surfaces opposite to each other, of the adjacent first sheet-like members 5. Therein, a Young modulus of the joint layer is 50 to 5,000 MPa. |
