PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smart toy driving system for portable terminal which is connected to a portable terminal to allow that an application installed in the portable terminal is executed to express a reaction generated by an interaction between a certain character and a portable terminal user, as a motion of the character.SOLUTION: A smart toy driving system for portable terminal according to the present invention comprises: a portable terminal provided with an audio signal generating part which generates an audio signal having a predetermined pattern waveform and then outputs it through a terminal part for outputting a sound; and a character detachably coupled to the terminal part of the portable terminal for receiving the audio signal. In the smart toy driving system, the character comprises: a signal converting part for converting the received audio signal into a predetermined driving signal according to the predetermined pattern waveform; and a mechanism part for taking a predetermined mechanical action according to the converted driving signal.
